Rachel Meade v WCC & SWE – Crowdfunding Appeal Video - Social Worker suspended over gender critical social media posts

Our Client, Rachel Meade, is a social worker, having spent over 20 years of her working life in the health and social care sector. She was suspended from work as a result of sharing and liking gender critical posts on a closed Facebook group. These beliefs were made in the context of the government’s consultation of proposed amendments to the Gender Recognition Act 2004 (GRA).

Ms Meade was referred to her regulatory body, Social Work England, who subsequently imposed sanctions on her. Following these sanctions, Ms Meade was suspended from work by her employer, Westminster City Council.

Claims have been issued against Social Work England and Westminster City Council in the Employment Tribunal, with the hearing due to begin on the 5th July 2023.

Leading up to this, Ms Meade has created a crowd-funding appeal video to share her story and help fund her legal fees.
