Biography
Ben is a driven advocate for workers' rights, whose passion for social justice has shaped his early experiences in casework and research across public, welfare, housing, and immigration law—both in the United Kingdom and the United States.
Gaining hands-on experience in welfare and housing law, he worked at the UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic in Stratford and later supported homeless and precariously housed individuals through the Los Angeles Legal Aid Foundation on Skid Row. His volunteer contributions with organisations such as the International Refugee Assistance Project and the American Civil Liberties Union have focused on initiatives to keep immigrant families together and address LGBTQ+ hate and censorship in schools.
Ben also holds a strong interest in the role of organised labour in advancing workers’ rights. His undergraduate dissertation advocated for the reintroduction of sectoral collective bargaining in the UK, and he would later go on to support contract enforcement efforts for American labour union, UNITEHERE!, during the largest strike in US hospitality history.
In addition to casework, he has held research roles at UCL’s The Constitution Unit and Center for Immigration Law and Policy at UCLA, where he contributed to scholarship on constitutional reform and immigration detention.
Ben earned his LL.B. from University College London in 2023, graduating in the top 3% of his class. He was awarded a Dean’s Fellowship to study Public Interest Law and Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he completed his LL.M. in 2024, graduating with Pro Bono Distinction. Ben speaks English and French.
