Our Client – Dr Shahrar Ali - Green Party spokesperson removed over gender critical beliefs is in the News for his landmark Equality Act Claim:

Our client, Dr Shahrar Ali was the elected Deputy Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales between September 2014 to September 2016. He has held positions of Home Affairs Spokesperson from February 2016 to June 2021 and Spokesperson for Policing and Domestic Safety from 7 June 2021 to 5 Feb 2022.
Dr Ali is a staunch advocate of women’s rights, he believes:
a. Biological sex is real and immutable and is not to be conflated with gender identity.
b. A woman is commonly defined as an adult human female and genetically typified by two XX chromosomes.
c. Women and girls, because of their sex, suffer disproportionately from a number of social and institutional harms such as domestic violence and gender pay discrimination and, internationally, from abhorrent practices such as infanticide and Female Genital Mutilation.
d. Terminology matters: that conflating biological sex with gender identity and erasing references to women when promoting and advertising services, for example, in the sphere of health and social care and in the reporting of crime, has the potential to cause real harm to women and the loss of rights for women which have been hard fought over many years.
Dr Ali has publicly backed and campaigned to protect women’s sex based rights. It has been alleged that he is transphobic allegations he wholeheartedly rejects. Indeed he has consistently fought for the equality of all across society and strongly advocated for mature, respectful debate where conflicts in the accommodation of rights may be thought to reasonably exist and would require negotiation. Dr Ali has spoken in favour of improving trans people’s lives. He believes that trans people often experience discrimination and that meeting their claims or interests may require due regard for protection of the rights of women, or indeed men, as a sex class. He believes strong safeguards must also exist for children and young people seeking diagnosis or treatment for gender dysphoria, particularly, in relation to access to medical treatment which may be described as experimental.
On 5 February 2022, Dr Ali was removed as Spokesperson for Policing and Domestic Safety, for alleged breaches of the Spokespeople Code of Conduct he has never been informed what the actual breaches were.
Dr Ali has been forced to seek justice through the courts, in summary his claims are that as a member of the Green Party, he has been subjected to a coordinated campaign of harassment and or direct discrimination and has been victimised because of his gender critical beliefs.
